Now that we are off andreading, lets add a little more fun to the mix. Each week, we are going tothrow out a BONUS CHALLENGE or two. You have a chance to earn bonus book… and quitepossible some CASH in the end.
Go for a walk and look for letters of the alphabet all around you! For example, two branches on the ground might form the letter T. The goal is to find the letters without having to move items around to create the letter. Mark off each letter as you find it!
Black history is American history. Of course it is wonderful to recognize the contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks. But there are lots of ways to go beyond the typical inventors and sports heroes so that every child and teen can connect to and learn from the amazing contributions of the African-American community. Here are just some of our favorite Black History Month activities.
Read a book about California or one that takes place there and answer a trivia question.

While Theodor Geisel died on September 24, 1991, Dr. Seuss lives on, inspiring generations of children of all ages to explore the joys of reading.

It's easy to get so preoccupied with our own lives that we forget about others, but with just one simple act of kindness, we can change the way someone else's day goes, and we can better ourselves and the world in the process. This challenge is designed for you to take the time to do something for someone else — and hopefully they will pay it forward to the next person!

As the National Women's History Project notes, 14 states had already declared March Women's History Month by 1986, and in 1987, Congress officially made it national.
